This was the second parkrun chosen
as a VAC event. The course is a fast, flat 3 lapper with a few twists and turns and then following the Thames for a
longish straight. Andrew Ridley comfortably led the Vets AC home, placing third overall, with an impressive age
grading of 90.49%. This was the best age-graded time of the day and a new M50 course record. He was followed by 2
M65s, Mike Mann and Jim Brown, finishing close together. Meanwhile Dennis Williams celebrated his 250th parkrun.
Four out of the top five age graded performances came from VAC members.
3. Andrew Ridley M50 16:18 90.49% age grading

2015 Veterans AC 10.325km road and supporting race
Veterans AC
were pleased to host the third running of this event on a lakeside course once used as the test bed for Britain's
water speed record round popular beauty spot Campbell's lake with mostly cloud cover and little
wind.
Times were a
little down on the previous year, however in the longer 10.325 km event 2014 overall and men's winner Malcolm
Martin from Surrey Walking Club maintained his position, and Penelope Cummings from AFD improved her 2013 position
to female winner and second overall.
For VAC veteran
supervet Arthur Thomson of Enfield led the way with a time very little over that of Richard Emsley in third
place.
On the shorter
event of 5.9 km the Young Athletes Group appeared for the first time, and once again the day appeared to belong to
AFD, as in the shorter race brothers Tim & Chris Snook had a joint win with a huge margin over any competition.
The ladies' race was comfortably won by experienced triathlete Joan Lennon, who had won the longer race in
2013.

following high winds a convincing win by an in form Steve Allen back from Euro Vets Italy.
Welcome reappearance by Mike Hinton formerly of Ilford AC in a good time.
Chris Flint had respectable time only a few days after appearing in Dutch Centurions 24 hour event.

Greenwich 10K and VAC 10k Championships 1 March 2015
1st VAC was Stuart Beaney Greenwich and the City, with Peter Ryan(170)

The race was held on traffic-free
roads within London's Greenwich Park and attracted twelve VAC members amongst the 364 finishers. The views of the
city of London from the start/finish area near the Observatory were stunning but came with a penalty as the race
route twice climbed the long steep hill up from the Maritime Museum at river Thames level. The challenge was
further enhanced by strong winds. Nevertheless, the sun shone and there was lots of encouragement from supporters
and park-users. Cambridge Harriers did an excellent job with the race organisation, using chip timing to make the
results process quick, easy and accurate.
VAC members performed well in the
race overall. Stuart Beaney was a magnificent 4th and the first M40 in the race. Matthew Preston was 11th and third
M40. Jerry Carnell, in the M55 age category, beat all the M45 runners and took away their age-group prize.
Similarly, Julian Spencer-Wood and Maggie Statham, as M60 and W60 competitors, won the M55 and W55 age group
prizes. A special mention goes to Peter Ryan and Fiona Bishop who joined the VAC road-runners, although more
commonly seen as race walkers. Congratulations to all VAC age-group medal winners.

Thank you to everyone who braved the cold weather to run and officiate in the
Championships on Wimbledon Common. The race distance was approximately 4.4 miles. The turn-out was good and there
was a great spirit of friendship and camaraderie both on the course and back at Belgrave Hall.
Congratulations to the VAC members who won age-group medals.
