Times achieved are eligible for Power of Ten profiles and Runbritain rankings and handicaps. The races take place on Tuesday evenings each month, starting at 7pm. The flat 5 Mile and 5 Km courses offer great opportunities to post fast times and to go head-to-head regularly with fellow Masters athletes across the age-groups. There is also a road race “Grand Prix” for VAC members (see below). The runs and walks take place entirely on Battersea Park’s traffic-free, tarmac, perimeter roads. Registration and pick-up of numbers is outside the Millennium Arena track in Battersea Park. The starts of the races are close by. For further information, see the Race Information. Online entry is through the OpenTrack Member Login on the BMAF website. Entries on the day are accepted, but please allow plenty of time for this. The charge for UKA-registered VAC and BMAF members is £4 for each race (£6 if not UKA-registered). Masters guests are welcome (£5 for UKA registered, £7 for non-registered). There is a race limit of 100 runners. Enquiries : Race Secretary

VAC Battersea Park road race series Grand Prix 2019

To add spice to the Battersea Park series, there is a “Grand Prix” to reward the VAC member with the highest average of their best three age-graded performances set during the series. To be eligible, members must register finishing times for at least three of the five races from April to August. The winner will be presented with the “Snow Cup”, a magnificent long-standing VAC trophy which was won in 2018 by M65, Ian Kitching.

VAC “mob match” parkruns

We combine VAC get-togethers with selected parkruns, three or four times a year. Many VAC members are regular parkrunners, who enjoy an early start on Saturday mornings and the conviviality and informality of the weekly runs in all sorts of locations, whilst benefiting from free entry and a measured 5k course. All ages and abilities are represented at these timed runs. The VAC targeted parkruns are an opportunity for VAC’s first and second claim runners to meet up, run and chat afterwards. We hope to see a good show of VAC vests so we can cheer each other on and raise the profile of the club. If members have recommendations or favourites in and around the London area, with good links to public transport, please make suggestions to Maggie Statham, the Entries Secretary.

If you are new to parkruns, you must register in advance on the parkrun website and obtain your individual barcode, which must be shown at the end of the run in order to register your name and time. Entry is free. You do not need to pin on a run-number. Just turn up, line up at 9am, run, take a numbered disc when you finish and then take the disc and your barcode to the recorders at their table. Your time, position, age category and age grading will appear on the parkrun website later in the day. If you are already registered with parkrun, there is no need to change your club affiliation to VAC for the purposes of these “mob matches”. We can usually pick out the VAC members.
